Earth's Treasure

When Laurence Graff acquired the 225 carat rough, unearthed from an Angolan mine, he knew instinctively that it would yield an incredible diamond.  It had good colour, but had a ‘topi’ protrusion on the stone.

After meticulous cutting and polishing by the Graff team, the ‘topi’ was removed – reducing the size of the stone to 160.9 carats.

The newly cut stone was then passed to Graff’s Master Cutter Nino Biano, who believed it possible to achieve the magic century mark of 100 carats.
